Our vessels are expressly designed for heavy duty work. Sturdy transverse framing is stiffened by the continuation of the inside motor mounts as solid sheets fore and aft. Three crews produce six vessels per year, usually a 1500 h.p., a 1040 h.p., line-haul vessel and four 1000 h.p. workboats. Consistency of design assures a new owner proven performance.

In addition to shipyard activities, Serodino, Inc. operates towboats and barges handling over 2,000,000 tons of bulk tonnage annually. Mid-South Terminals Division, an industrial park development and cargo transfer facility and Southern Electric Fleet Division serve Chattanooga and the surrounding area. Serodino, Inc. works closely with interrelated marine-oriented companies to give customers full service and experience. Southern Marine Construction builds dock facilities, water intakes, outfalls and other marine work in the Southeast and Midwest.

25’9″ Twin Screw Workboat
Bobcat Class

Hull
The 25’9″ x 16′ x 6′ deep hull, with 4’6″ draft, is constructed of 5/16″ plate with 3/8″ plate over the wheels and on the bilge knuckles. There are three fuel tanks with a total capacity of 750 gallons.

Power
Power consists of two Cummins QSL9-Tier 2 engines, developing a total of 660 continuous horsepower at 1800 rpm, with Twin-Disc MG-514 – 3.5 to 1 gears, turning 3-1/2″ shafts through Simplan dripless shaft seals. Wheels are 40″ x 36″ four-blade Nibral. Electric power is a 12 volt battery system with engine driven alternators.

Steering
Morse push pull cables control throttle and gear operations. Follow-up lever controls electronically activate 2 flanking and 2 main rudders. Dual hydraulic pumps are also engine driven.

Miscellaneous
Standard equipment includes 10 ton hand winches, 12 volt navigational lights, an incandescent searchlight, alarm systems, rubber towknees, and recessed Fernstrum coolers. Pad eyes are built into the hull for lifting the 60,000 lb. vessel.

Pilot House
All vessel controls, instrumentation, and remote alarm systems are centered in a 6′ x 5′ x 6′ wide pilot house elevated 16’6″ above the main deck, allowing for a 23′ eye level.

Hull
The 51’6″ x 22’6″ x 8’0″ hull, with 5’9″ draft, is constructed of 3/8″ plate throughout with 1/2″ plate over the wheels and on the bilge knuckles.

Transverse framing is 7″ channel on 24″ centers with 3″ x 5″ x 3/8″ frames in the bow. The inside motor mounts are continued fore and aft as solid sheets to divide the hull into three collision compartments, three fuel tanks, (5,800 gallons total capacity), engine room, a water tank and six stern compartments. A 165-gallon lube oil tank and a 110-gallon gear oil tank are built into the hull.

Power
Power consists of two Cummins QSK-19-M engines, developing a total of 1320 continuous horsepower at 1800 rpm, with Twin-Disc MGX-5222, 4.03 to 1 reverse and reduction gears turning a 4-1/2″ sleeved shafts through Simplan dripless shaft seals to 52″ x 40″ four-blade Nitral wheels. Two 40-k.w. John Deere 4045-MF-75A light plants furnish auxillary electric power.

Steering
The Skipper Electric/Hydraulic follow-up lever controls in the pilothouse separately activate four flanking and two main rudders. The hydraulic pumps are driven by electric motors.

Miscellaneous
Standard equipment includes navigation lights, one incandescent and one Xenon searchlight, all-alarm systems, electric winches, Schuyler rubber towknees, Fernstrum coolers and shore power plug-in. The vessel will be delivered 100% operational.

Superstructure
The superstructure is constructed of 3/16″ plate with 2″ x 2 1/2″ x 1/4″ angle framing. Doors are metal and windows are aluminum with safety glass panes. All quarters will be insulated, aluminum paneled, heated and air-conditioned and have rubber floor covering, and curtains.

The first deck is 15′ x 23′ and contains Spartan quarters including a built-in stove, sink and refrigerator, a modest head with shower, and a U.S. Coast Guard approved marine toilet with Owens Septic System.

The second deck is 8′ x 8′ for equipment storage or small quarters. The pilothouse is the same size with full instrumentation, vessel control, and remote alarm systems. There is a 42″ mechanical room between the second deck and the pilothouse that creates a 27′ eye level.
